Since the revenues from gaming industry has sharply decreased by 35% in the past year, Macao government decided to focus more on its hospitality and meetings infrastructure and offer packages for mega large groups. More than 182,000 sqm of meeting space and over 32,000 hotel rooms are available in Macao at present stage. There are more international hotels to be built in the city namely The Parisian Macao, Wynn Palace, MGM Cotal and additional 50,000 rooms will be provided in the next few years.
Macao Trade & Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) became the principal connection in November last year to consolidate its government agencies’ support to meetings and events organisers and it would therefore organize a series of support programs to stimulate its conventions and trade show business. Local associations will be assisted by IPIM to bid for international conferences.
